WE ARE BACK!

The KAstle is open and occupied by Kappa Alpha Brothers once again!!!  The long road back has been achieved due to the hard work, dedication, and persistence of Steve Hastings (70), Gary Cloud (72), and Mark Adcock (77).

Starting back in 2019 the process of getting KA back on campus and having the KAstle occupied by OUR brothers seemed highly improbable, if not impossible.

This trio lead the charge to halt the zoning status change of the KAstle in Newark that would have precluded brothers from inhabiting the house; reducing the suspension duration by the university; and all the while maintaining the KAstle financially and functionally.

This herculean effort culminated at the Chapter Restoration Banquet when Beta Epsilon was formally re-established at the University of Delaware by The 42nd Knight Commander King V. Aiken, Jr on November 2nd 2024.

Steve Hastings’ leadership and guidance has been invaluable in shaping the minds and actions of the active brothers so that the Beta Epsilon Chapter will thrive.

Steve was conferred with the Knight Commander’s Accolade at the Chapter Restoration Ceremony on November 2nd, 2024, for his long and distinguished service to Kappa Alpha. The Knight Commander’s Accolade is the highest individual honor an alumnus can receive.

All the while, Mark and Gary ensured the Kastle was maintained and in good financial standing by temporarily leasing the house to another organization.  Gary led the effort to restore and refurbish the house over the summer of 2024 so that incoming KA residents would live in the most prestigious house on campus.  His efforts continue today in his role as House Manager.  Gary and Mark were both presented with a Certificate of Honor at the Chapter Restoration Ceremony on November 2nd 2024.

The KAEF Board would like to thank Steve, Gary, Mark and all the alumni who donated their time and resources to make this happen.

The KAEF Board and Alumni Advisory Committee have been reconstituted and meet regularly.  The Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday April 12th, 2025, starting at 11am followed by a BBQ at the KAstle.  All alumni are encouraged to attend.

Today, the chapter has 69 active brothers and 20 brothers living in the KAstle.  We anticipate a strong Spring Rush and a continued growth of the roster of exceptional young men.

Let’s continue this path of success together and ensure that the KAstle will always be home to future KA brothers.

Fraternally,

Michael Lagana
KAEF Board President
